Shulah Oliver-Smith is a vibrant & talented professional violinist/violist who has a busy freelance career performing as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral musician. She has performed extensively across the UK and Europe and has been invited to perform in Sri Lanka.
Shulah was appointed Artistic Director of The Midland Sinfonia (a professional chamber orchestra) in 2021. During her time there she has established an exciting Education & Outreach Programme alongside the orchestras more traditional season of concerts.
She has played with many renowned orchestras such as The Hallé, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Opera North, Northern Ballet, English Symphony Orchestra and European Chamber Orchestra and has been invited to guest lead and principal 2nd for orchestras including Scottish Ballet, Orchestra of the Swan, Bampton Classical Opera, Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra and CHANDOS Symphony Orchestra as well as many others groups.
Shulah completed her Masters Degree in Performance with Distinction at the world renowned Royal Academy of Music, London & was awarded the Diploma of the Royal Academy of Music for an outstanding Final Recital. She has been a finalist & highly commended in competitions including Haverhill Sinfonia Soloist Competition, Delius Prize, Wilfred Parry Prize, Winifred Small Prize & Sir Arthur Bliss Prize, & received the John Mundy & D-Day Fund Prize Awards.
